An eventful 30mins at the Network3D HQ home to CPU3D and AMD3D.Some time last week one of my SLI graphics card decided to making buzzing and whirring noises. So i decided to take action and removed the noisy SLI card and proceeded to dust and clean the heatsink and fan.Having cleaned it out quite thoroughly i continued to re-install my card back into the computer and powered it up...But to my disappointment the noise continued, buzzing and whirring, high pitch and low pitch. I decided to ignore it since I had so much more work to do on CPU3D
A week past and the previous two days my computer no longer eminated the annoying sounds of a lawn mower, I thought peace at last the fan has lubricated itself. And this evening a strong and pungent smell of burnt PCB and electric motor hung in the air near my PC."Holy Sh##" realising my graphic had made no further noises because the fan is broke. An immediate shutdow and dismantle of my system is a must. And to my shock and horror.... And like the title of my blog says... "Ignore your noisy fan at peril!" Discuss it here in our forums!
