CPU3D Interviews Henry Kao (Vice President - Gigabyte United)

CPU3D brings you an exclusive interview with Gigabyte's Henry Kao, Vice President of Gigabyte United. We talk about Gigabyte's future plans for 2008/2009 and also their stance on the mainstream and enthusiast markets.

I arrived last night on the 5th May. A driver picked me up at the airport and dropped me off at the hotel, which I may add, is excellent to say the least. After a good night's sleep ... it's time for a busy schedule the following day.

Gigabyte has a complete tower as their head quarters in Taipei. There's a total of 10 floors not including basement levels. The sales and marketing department occupy 2 floors, while their R&D team also occupy another 2 floors. I had a brief tour of their head quarters before interviewing Henry Kao, Vice President of Gigabyte United.

So what's new for Gigabyte United?

Winston: Hi Henry, how are you? ... It's nice to meet you.

Henry Kao: Hi Winston, I'm fine thanks and welcome to Gigabyte HQ in Taipei!

Winston: Yes, thank you. It's a pleasure to meet you and thank you for taking time for this interview.

Henry Kao: No problem at all. The pleasure is mine.

Winston: Tell us more about Gigabyte United, your role as Vice President, its goals and achievements.

Henry Kao: Gigabyte United was established at the end of 2006. Its main focus is on our core businesses of GIGABYTE branded motherboards and graphics cards. We are committed to providing our valued customers with the highest quality products and services featuring the industry’s most innovative design ... "Quality Components make Quality Motherboards". Being a Vice President involves of a lot of descision making on how to improve, expand and develope the Gigabyte United brand. It took us a little over 1 year to develope our core business based on the principles I mentioned earlier ... and it looks like we're now reaping the rewards.

Winston: That's excellent, I can't fault that. Over the past year or so, Gigabyte products, especially your motherboards are the number one choice in both the UK and Europe.

Henry Kao: I'm glad to hear that ... we won't stop and we will continue to improve, expand and develope new products in the future.

Winston: I understand that you will be hosting a special "Plug-Fest"  featuring your latest motherboard using the Intel P45 chipset. Tell me more about it.

Henry Kao: Yes, the P45 "Plug-Fest" is a special event, which will be held on the 8th May. This event will hopefully give all our media and press organisations the opportunity to test and preview this motherboard. There are several features on this motherboard which we would like to demonstrate ... these include the Ultra Durable 2, new overclocking BIOS and of course our D.E.S. (Dynamic Energy Saver)

Winston: That's great. When will this motherboard be available to the general public?

Henry Kao: After initial testing and previews ... the motherboard will hopefully be available late May 2008.

Winston: What market segment will this motherboard fall in?

Henry Kao: We will be aiming this motherboard at the mainstream and high-end user. We believe that the features included with this motherboards will be good enough for both overclockers and enthusiasts alike.

Winston: What are your future plans for Q3, Q4 and 2009?

Henry Kao: Gigabyte United will be looking to develope better features and expand on the enthusiast market. We want to let users know that Gigabyte United is a brand that can offer everything an enthusiast would ever want ... excellent performance, good overclocking, great features. And for the mainstream, we will have plenty of new products lined up ... especially the new intergrated chipset from Intel and Nvidia. Our AMD 780G based motherboard already received great success, and we aimed to expand on that too. By the way ... I like your review on that motherboard.

Winston: Thank you. Yes, your motherboard based on the AMD 780G is a very good motherboard. By the way, for new and up-and-coming products, will CPU3D be first to review them? :P

Henry Kao: Of course ... We will give you oure 100% support ... a good relationship with CPU3D will always be beneficial to our customers, and it's ideal for improving our brand name.

Winston: Thank you for your time. It was a great pleasure to meet you, your team and I hope to speak to you soon.

Henry Kao: Same here, thank you Winston. It was a pleasure to meet you too. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask me or my colleagues.
