PC Gamer Showndown

After a successful LAN event during this year's i34 M-Festival at Stoneleigh Park in early August ... PC Gamer decided to do one themselves. It's on a much smaller scale with only 500 gamers, still the prizes are there and hardcore gamers just couldn't resist. Here's a little blurb taken from PC Gamer's Website.

"PC Gamer takes the world of large-scale LAN events by storm as it presents PC Gamer Showdown in association LG.

500 gamers will battle over a high-speed network at the awesome Stoneleigh Park venue on 27th and 28th of September in a bid to get their hands on thousands of pounds worth of cash prizes.

Entrants will be able to win big cash prizes in their favourite games including: Team Fortress 2 (£15,000) Counter-Strike: Source (£10,000) Call of Duty 4 (£5,000) and World of Conflict (£5,000). Of course it's not all about the cash prizes! As well as being able to play the aforementioned games on the massive LAN network you'll also be able to play FIFA, Unreal Tournament III and War Craft 3."

We take a look at the gaming teams, the booths, the rigs and the what MakeMeCooler is doing at this LAN event. It's a good place to meet people, establish new relationships as well as strengthening existing ones. First off ... let's take a look at the gaming area, event halls and booth areas ...

Some gamers already started to play on some EA games being demoed at the PC Gamer Showdown

The gaming hall is smaller than that of the i-series ... but still, it started to fill up quite quickly

The gamers settling quite nicely .... getting on with some practice rounds

YoYoTech's booth started to get some attention ... still very, but when the MakeMeCooler team came along ... it was one of the main attractions at the PC Gamer Showdown

FarCry 2 was being demoed too ... but I think "Left for Dead" from Valve was the main attraction
