Neil from Corsair talks to CPU3D

Last week I got a surprising phone call from Corsair's UK manager Neil Hill. He wanted to come down to our office to meet us in person ... we welcomed his decision and gladly invited him over.

Neil was pretty impressed with our office and labs ... and during his visit, we took the opportunity to ask a few questions about their up-and-coming products and what they've got in store for 2009.

Winston: Hi Neil, how are you? Welcome to CPU3D. This is where all the action happens !!

Neil: Hi Winston, I'm fine thanks ... So, this is where you guys do all your work. It's like an Aladdin's Cave! Oh ... I can see that you're using our Dominator Tri Channel modules on the Gigabyte GA-EX58 Extreme motherboard. Well done!

Winston: Yes, this is our second home (laugh). Right ... where shall we start? OK, tell us about more yourself and Corsair in general.

Neil: I'm Neil Hill ... I'm the UK sales manager for Corsair. We recently established our new UK offices in Great Marlings, which is near Luton. I hope you guys can come and visit. As you are aware ... Corsair specialise in the manufacturer of high performance memory modules since the early days of 1994. We cater for all types of users including the mainstream user, as well as our most important market ... the enthusiasts. We work closely with all the major 1st tier manufacturers including Intel, SuperMicro, Tyan, Asus and many more ...

Winston: Tell us which memory products are Corsairs most famous for ...

Neil: Well, all our memory products are extremely sort after. Our memory modules offer performance, quality and great overclocking ability. Our flagship memory products are the DOMINATOR line. They are performance memory, which is designed for the unique demands of the serious enthusiast community.

Winston: The year 2008 is almost over ... looking back, what have Corsair achieved in terms of brand awareness and the products you sell?

Neil: 2008 have been extremely successful for Corsair. We have repeatedly broken world records in overclocking time and time again. This is great for our brand awareness as it really cements all our hard work and efforts, in producing and delivering to our customers ...  the highest performing memory products in the world. Both our XMS and Dominator lines are hugely successful for 2008.

Winston: What market share does Corsair have in the UK, in terms of performance memory? And who are your main competitors?

Neil: As far as performance memory is concerned, we believe we have around 70% market share within the UK. That's extraordinarily good considering. Our main competitors as you already know ... are OCZ Technology, Kingston Memory and possibly Crucial.

Winston: Wow, that's amazing ... 70% market share. Well done! Looking ahead, the market in 2009 will be very difficult for all of us ... what plans does Corsair have to make the ride a little easier?

Neil: Well, we have lots of plans for 2009. We will continue to sell, manufacture an develope high performance memory ... it's what we do best! Watch out for even higher performing, DDR3 Tri Channel memory coming in 2009. To maximise sales, we also have a rangle of power supplies and USB flash pens which have been selling very well. We'll also look to introduce new and exciting products for 2009. But ultimately our main focus for us ... is being able to offer performance and quality to all our customers. Another key to our success is to build good relationships with people like yourselves. We all need to work together, that's why it's really important for us to see an independant site like CPU3D grow.

Winston: I'm sure Corsair will be hugely successful, no matter what the markets are like in 2009. All the enthusiasts that I know are die hard fans of Corsair, so there's a good start. Can we expect to see a lot more Corsair on the pages of CPU3D?

Neil: Yes, of course. I particularly like your MakeMeCooler event and your recent HydroBox project. See, this is exactly the kind of thing that other sites don't have ... you're unique and independant, and that's what I like about CPU3D. Don't worry Winston, you'll see a lot more from Corsair on your pages soon ;)

Winston: I hope you enjoyed your visit ... here at CPU3D. We look forward to working more closely together with Corsair in 2009, and I wish you a safe journey home.

Neil: Thank you Winston, the pleasure was mine. It's been a great visit. Thank you.
