ASUS EN8800GTS - The powerhouse in graphics performance Introduction Asus have always produced top quality products throughout its history. I've always enjoyed using both their motherboards and graphic cards, and especially like their notebooks. We've reviewed serveral graphic cards from Asus before, and we've always found them to perform really well. In this review we'll be taking a look at their EN8800GTS. The EN8800GTS utilises Nvidia's 8800GTS GPU (G80) and features 320Mb of DDR3 ram.
The NVIDIA 8800 series GPU has literally dominated the extreme high end graphics market, leaving ATi well behind. In fact, the merger of ATi-AMD has really hampered their efforts to challenge Nvidia. They recently suffered a minor setback with delays on their next generation GPUs. However, we will see something from ATi later this year ... but for now, it's Nividia's turn to GLOW and they're in "the zone" right now. The 8800 Series has everything that an extreme gamer would want, full support for DirectX 10, GigaThred Technology for extreme processing throughput, SLI Ready, Lumenex Engine, Quantum Effects Technology. So there's a lot of features that help the 8800 achieve its glorified status.
In this review we look at the Asus EN8800GTS 320MB, the little brother of the the 8800GTX GPU but it still has all the same features, with only the difference in core clock speeds. The 8800GTS has a core clock speed of 500Mhz with ram at 1600Mhz. Asus has packaged a load of their own goodies with this VGA card making it more desirable to use. One must also be aware that Asus have exactly the same card but with 640MB of DDR3 memory.
One of the main features that caught my eye was the GameReplay, where a gamer can record their action/strategy game into MPEG4 files to share with other gaming enthusiasts. This is ideal for todays internet users who are driven by the event of YouTube.
What are the specs of the Asus EN8800GTS... lets have a look ...
