Crucial's Ballastix 1Gb PC4000 Memory Kits ... Performance for everyone Introduction Crucial is a division of Micron Tecechnology. One of the largest dynamic random access memory (DRAM) manufacturers in the world, and the only one based in the U.S. Located in Idaho, USA, Micron manufactures DRAM chips and assembles them into high-quality memory modules for sale to original equipment manufacturers ("OEMs") worldwide.
Crucial has always made good quality ram modules for the masses. I remember, when good quality ram for overclocking were hugely expensive ... and during that time many of us chose Crucial ram because of its price and value for money. Not only did Crucial ram performed well, but they were also suprisingly very good for overclocking too. Back in the early days of the Athlon XP processors, I managed to overclock their PC2700 DDR333 ram, which operates @ 166Mhz to 200Mhz (that's DDR400). Nowadays, with so much emphasis on high-end products and overclocking, Crucial has decided to bring a new line of high-quality, and high-performance ram to cater for these enuthusiasts. So, the Ballastix range of memory modules were introduced.
With overclocking and stability in mind, these Ballastix memory modules have extra features such as heat-spreaders and higher quality ram chips. All of which, helps during overclocking. In addition, the Ballistix memory has an enhanced memory timing of 2.5-4-4-8. This will definitely reduce the memory latency and improve performance. Let's take a look at the specifications ...
