Introduction

The Asus Triton 75 fanless silent universal CPU cooler ... does a good job with the help of a 120mm fan.

Introduction

It seems that manufacturers nowadays are getting involved with all sorts of markets. It was quite a different story a few years ago, when manufacturer that specialised in ... say,  motherboards would rarely venture out to explore other markets. Things have changed since then, and now we are seeing manufacturers like Asus, Gigabyte, MSI and even Foxconn joining the bandwagon in producing thermal products like Chassis, CPU and VGA coolers. In fact, Gigabyte was one of the first component manufacturer to establish a Thermal Division which produced such products ... and with great success too.

A few months ago we reviewed several CPU coolers from Gigabyte's Thermal Division. To our surprise, they performed better than we expected. Their CPU coolers combine heatpipe technology with some innovative designs, and some even had fan speed controls. All-in-all, Gigabyte really made an impressive debut in producing thermal products.

Now it's time for Asus to come up with something that could attract the masses of loyal and devoted users. Can they succeed the same way that Gigabyte did? In this review, we will be taking a look at the Asus Triton 75 CPU cooler. It's marketed as a silent cooler with no need for an active fan. The Triton 75 CPU cooler features a solid copper base with a total of 4 copper heatpipes, and large aluminum fins for heat dissipation. It also has the option to mount an additional 120mm fan for active cooling.

The Triton 75 is a universal CPU cooler for both AMD and Intel processors. And in this review, We'll be testing this cooler with a very toasty Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 processor, which I know can get very warm on full load. It will be interesting to see what temperatures we'll be getting ... with and without an active 120mm fan.

Our first impressions of the Triton 75 CPU cooler was quite a good one. The cooler itself certainly looks impressive, and has all the designs and features of a good CPU cooler. Let's see if the Asus Triton 75 CPU cooler can really get our approval ...
