Coolermaster Real Power M700 PSU ... Affordable modular power supply that offers good performance over price.
INTRODUCTION
No need for any introduction ... the brand name Coolermaster is pretty well known among mainstream users and ethusiasts alike. They've been producing top quality thermal products including CPU and VGA coolers, chassis and power supplies for many years. A few months ago we reviewed the Coolermaster Real Power M850 power supply. We found it to be one of the better power supplies we've tested at our labs. It features a modular cabling system and offers a total of six +12V rails (4@18A , 2@28A), with a massive 135mm fan.
Many users tend to forget how important a PSU really is. It's the main component that powers everything in your system. For the average mainstream user who's just running a single/dual core processor, single hard drive, single graphics card and standard cooling ... a mid-range 400W to 550W is more than enough. However, for the gamer or enthusiast, a more powerful PSU is required. But as the power rating on a power supply goes up so will the cost. Take for example the Coolermaster Real Power M850, it currently costs around £135.00 ... which is way too much for any average user.
So, to satisfy the mainstream market, Coolermaster have a range of power supplies in their modular series with power ratings of 520W to 700W. And in this review we will be taking a look at the Real Power M700 PSU. The power supply has pretty small footprint and is listed on their M-series, which features a modular cabling system,. It has a total of four +12V rails @ 19A, which allows good power distribution, and a quiet 120mm fan for cooling.
What makes this PSU so attractive is that it's extremely affordable at only £80.00. Not only that, but also it's capable of supportting SLI configuration with a peak power output of upto 840W.
OK, let's not waste any more time and put this power supply to the test ...
