Installing a custom Phase Change Cooler
Article Index:

Test Setup

Here's a list of components which I used  ...

 - Asus Maximus Extreme
 - Intel Core 2 Duo E8500
 - Patriot DDR3-1600 2Gb Kit
 - Powercolor Radeon HD3870x2
 - Silverstone OP 750W PSU
 - Custom Little Devil Phase Change Unit

Preparing the motherboard

Setting the motherboard for phase was a very delicate matter.  I attached the back plate and armaflex pad with 4 long bolts securing with 1 washer and a nut on each bolt making sure to squash the armaflex pad a little to make sure it was air tight.

I then turned the motherboard over to install the cpu, then insulated the socket area; this time using sticky armaflex.  I doubled it up and packed out all around the cpu socket and between the capacitors to make sure no condensation could get in.

Once I was happy with all the insulation, I covered the CPU in Ceramique by Arctic Silver; I used this as it does not shrink under extreme Temperatures.  I then setup my motherboard ready to do some benching in the same way anyone else would just attaching Drives and Peripherals I then added my water cooling loop for my Northbridge.
