Gaming Benchmarks

As we all know, these new processors aren't all that powerful when run at stock speeds.  It is only when you start overclocking them does it unleash their full potential.  Below you can see some comparison charts between the Q6600 and the E8400 taken from Toms Hardware.

 

First up is Crysis; a very demanding next gen game which brings even the hightest spec'd rigs to their knees.  Below you can see there is very little difference between the two CPU's.  What is interesting, if you look at the top graph, using very high details with 4x AA you see the stock Q6600 performing better than the E8400 at 4.2GHz!  Albeit by only a fractional margin.  It just goes to show, clock speed isn't everything.
