Installation and Package

Package and Contents

The package is pretty standard and contains all the necessary manuals, instructions and drivers on CD. There's the usual 6-pin PCIe power cable (essential), one DVI-2-VGA converter, one DVI-2-HDMI converter, a Crossfire ribbon cable, S-Video out and a HDMI cable. Excellent. The package also includes bundled software ... PowerDVD v7 and a free copy of "The Black Box", which includes Half-Life 2 and Team Fortress.

Installation

Installation was straight forward with no problems at all. The card itself only takes up one PCI slot space, giving you more space inside the system. This allows you to add more Radeon HD38xx cards for Crossfire configuration, without making the system look cluttered. The actual heatsink on the unique Vapor-X cooler completely covers the area where the GPU and memory are located. It's cooled by a thermal controlled fan, which only spins when the card gets hot enough.

Driver installation was very simple ... no further comment here. In our benchmark tests, we used the latest ATI Catalyst drivers v8.3, which supports CrossfireX, Windows Vista with DX10.
