MSI's budget gaming video card put through it paces...
Introduction
With all the major brand names racing to flex their muscles with their high-end graphics cards using the latest GPUs such as Nvidia Geforce 7900 series or the ATI Radeon X1900 series, its no wonder that a lot of budget users are left drooling and dreaming about owning one.
But the fact is, budget video cards has a quicker and higher rate of sale in high street stores and online stores, hence providing a greater turnover than those of high-end performance cards. It is a battle ground for big brand names to produce the best performing budget graphics cards by getting the correct mixture of RAM, heatsink and additional features.
MSI has released a budget gamer's graphics card based on the ATI GPU chipset Radeon X1300 aptly named MSI RX1300Pro TD256E.
The ATI Radeon X1300 bring enhanced visuals with an improved 3D architecture combined with ATI's new Avivo technology. The X1300 uses a 90nm GPU processor and a new ultra-threaded 3D processing architecture coupled with an advanced memory controller.
" Radeon X1300’s 90-nanometer process technology and ultra-threaded core architecture combines power and efficiency and supports for Shader Model 3.0 to deliver new High Dynamic Range visual effects, enhanced realism with Adaptive Anti-aliasing and lightening fast performance in OpenGL and DirectX® 9 games."
The X1300 is also capable of CrossFire Multi-GPU Power which allows you to combine two X1300 cards and share the GPU processing load.
|
"Designed from the ground up with GPU sharing in mind, the Radeon X1300 series allows you to get incredible gaming performance by adding a second Radeon® X1300 graphics card for ultra fast performance that works with all games, all the time. To achieve optimal performance-class results from your Radeon X1300 CrossFire platform, combine two Radeon X1300 graphics cards with a motherboard based on ATI's CrossFire Xpress™ 1600 chipset.

The X1300 series also include the new video-in video-out technology aptly names AVIVO, which brings vibrant colours, ultra sharp images and smooth High Definition video playback.
|
"Connect your Radeon X1300 with your home entertainment devices for digital convergence, enhanced with ATI’s revolutionary new Avivo video and display technology platform. Avivo technology creates vibrant colors, ultra sharp images, true-to-life image reproduction, and the smoothest HD video playback ever offered by ATI. I previously owned a Radeon 9700 Pro and back then I was absolutely amazed by the colours and vibrance it produced. This time round when benching the Radeon X1300, I was again surprised that the colour and vibrance still bettered than the newer Geforce series.
But some how I always knew that ATI could make that gaming experience a bit better by adding atmospheric sensations through vibrant colours and now they are taking advantage of the Shader Model 3.0 to give a much more enhanced visual effects.
Well, lets not waste anymore time with technological history and get on with testing the MSI RX1300Pro...
