"VIA Technologies has announced revenues of NT$611 million (US$19.87 million) for July this year, a slight increase of 8% on month, but a sharp drop of 54.79% compared to the NT$1.35 billion recorded in July 2007. Accumulated revenues for the first seven months of 2008 were NT$5.14 billion, a drop of 47.26% on year.
The drop in performance was mainly due to the company ceasing to ship chipsets for third-party CPUs which originally accounted for around 60% of the company's revenues. However, with the company having started to receive stable orders for own-brand CPUs and chipsets, VIA said it expects revenues performance in the second half to improve.
Meanwhile, Silicon Integrated System (SiS) has announced revenues of NT$607 million for July, increases of 15% on month and 12.67% on year. The company's accumulated revenues for the first seven months of 2008 were NT$3.76 billion, an increase of 30.56% on year."
