MSI's ATI contribution, the RX1900 GT a heavy weight contender Introduction Last few weeks we have been reviewing MSI budget and mid range VGA cards, RX1300Pro and the NX7600GT, in order to build up to MSI's beasty ATI VGA card the RX1900GT. The ATI's X1900GT GPU is a direct competitor to Nvidia's 7900GT GPU. But I believe the mainstream market has not heard of the X1900 as it has not been marketed as much as the Nvida series. But for the enthusiasts who keep an eye out on both sides of the fence feel that the X1900 is as powerful if not better than the 7900GT. Another factor to consider is whether to use SLI or Crossfire, and obviously SLI has an upper-hand as it has been developed very well since the 3Dfx cards some 10years back, the Crossfire technology still needs to be perfected as the technology does not use both Crossfire cards to its maximum efficiency.
Having mentioned about the Crossfire technology, the situation maybe completely flipped and turned upside down since recent events involving AMD buying ATI. Crossfire technology may altogether be erradicated... who knows what the furture will hold.
Most mainstream shoppers will think that the Nvidia 7900GT is the GPU that has it all, the fact is that ATI may have an equally powerful card, but I believe the X1900 is better than the Nvidia series in the graphics detail, colour and atmosphere. It makes a difference when you feel involved in the game rather than seeing the game. This is what i first felt when using the ATI 9700Pro some 5 years ago, and it still kept the same secret now in the form of the X1900. In this review we look at one of MSI's powerful gaming cards the RX1900GT VT2D256E for the serious gamer The ATI Radeon X1900 bring enhanced visuals with an improved 3D architecture combined with ATI's new Avivo technology. The X1900 uses a 90nm GPU processor and a new ultra-threaded 3D processing architecture coupled with an advanced memory controller.
"Radeon X1900’s state-of-the-art architecture includes an ultra-threaded engine for unparalleled shader performance. In addition, it is CrossFire™ ready, allowing your greatest multi-GPU fantasies to come true.
