{mosimage}While checking my emails during my spare time at home ... I realise that I'm receiving loads of emails from hardware manufacturers and other websites informing me of up-and-coming products. From AMD's new Socket AM2 to Intel's Conroe processor ... it's ALL getting quite heavy ;)

Introduction

Intel has only recently, in the last couple of months released their new "Presler" dual core processor using 65nm technology and a total of 4Mb cache (2MB per core). The 920 (2.8Ghz), 930 (3.0Ghz), 940 (3.2Ghz) and 950 (3.4Ghz) processors are now available in many computer stores.

What's quite annoying (in my opinion) is that, these new processors has only recently hit the shelves ... and Intel's gone and done it again. They now plan to release another line of processors using a newer 45nm technology codenamed "Conroe" ... ETA Q3, 2006.  Read about Intel's roadmap ... HERE

I was just about to buy an Intel Pentium 4 (Dual Core) - Presler processor as an upgrade earlier this month! Now I think I'm going to have to hold back until Christmas.

You may ask ... "yeah, how come these new procesors are being released so tightly together within only a few months of each other? " ...

Well, this is ALL thanks to Moore's Law.
