VR-Zone reports that Taipei, Taiwan-based memory-module manufacturer, G.Skill, has just announced that it will soon start producing 2,000MHz DDR3 SDRAM memory modules for Intel X58 Express chipset-based, Intel Core i7 desktop systems. The 6GB triple-channel PI Black DDR3 memory kit is made up of three 2GB memory modules, with CAS latency settings of 8-8-8-21.

Intel's new Core i7 architecture is optimized to utilize triple-channel memory; while it will also work in single and double-channel memory, the Core i7 platform will see the fastest potential performance with memory modules used in triples. And unlike previous Intel platforms (such as the Core 2 architecture, which could work with either DDR2 or DDR3 memory), the Core i7 is meant to be used exclusively with DDR3 memory. With DDR3 SDRAM memory module kits now coming available in faster speeds,enthusiasts will be able to take even better advantage of the performance potential of the Core i7 platform—in fact, just today, motherboard manufacturer Asus announced that a new world record has been set for overclocking a 3.2GHz Intel Core i7-965 all the way to 5,510.09MHz.
