"It's a no frills card that gives the budget gamers the basics to run a modern game. It supports both DX10 and Windows Vista and it comes with a great Dawn of War game...."
Gigabyte NX85T using the basic Geforce 8500GT gets tested!
Introduction
All thanks to Gigabyte who has sent us their new GV-NX85T Geforce 8500GT graphics card. Once again it is more likely to be a Nvidia reference board and GPU leaving the choice of RAM specification and output types to the brand names. Gigabyte is no stranger to the video card industry being one of the early adopters of both the Nvidia and ATI GPUs, their strong relationships give them a competitive edge over other brand names.
The Gigabyte GV-NX85T comes packaged with a great game, Dawn of War, which they also used as the art design for the packaging, this makes it really stand out and very imposing giving a first impressions of power and authority.
Many big brand names now market their new range of graphics cards with an included game, and its not just any obscure and unknown game, they usually choose a game that has release many versions due to its popularity. Now the graphics card package has even more appeal.
The Gigabyte GV-NX85T graphics card is based upon Nvidia's Geforce 8500GT GPU. It supports DirectX 10 and is Windows Vista compatible. The GPU core clocks at 450MHz, while the 256Mb of DDR2 ram runs at 400MHz (800MHz effective). The card again looks very much like Nvidia's reference design but it has its own silent and fan-less cooling solution.
OK, let's not waste any more time and see if the Gigabyte GV-NX85T can give an excellent performance...
