It looks like even manufacturers like Gigabyte, that specialise in motherboards and graphic cards, are getting in on the action too. Gigabyte's recent entry to this market (thermal products, chassis and PSUs) is a fairly new. But, they haven't done too badly. In fact, some of their chassis and thermal products have been getting some attention from hardware websites from around the world. Their brand name has definitely helped in promoting and marketing these products. Like with many Gigabyte products, we expect to see some new and innovative features on these power supplies.

And now thanks to Gigabyte, we will now take a look at the Odin GT 800W power supply. This PSU is again, aimed at the high-end and power user, and features a modular cabling system which is now found on many high-end PSUs. It's also equipped with a total of four +12V rails (2@18A and 2@25A) and 2 unique PCIe power cables that has the ability to convert to a 8-pin type for high-end graphic cards (see photos below). Quad SLI  ... no problems.

One thing I like about this PSU is that Gigabyte has included 4 connectors for temperature probes and also a connector for a fan control. These features are quite unique for a power supply, and is one of the first one we've seen on the market. Special software is included which allow user to monitor and control the temperature probes and the fan control. Also included in the package is a foldable pouch for storing redundant cables ... just like the Coolermaster Real Power M850.

Again, the power supply feels very solid and offers excellent build quality. It uses Japanese made capacitors, which should give extra stability and longevity. On the underside of the PSU, you'll find a huge, super silent 140mm fan and a mesh grille on the back, which helps maintain a sufficient air-flow in and out of the chassis.

Here's a list of the available power connectors for your peripherals:

 1 x 24-pin ATX v2.2 connector
 1 x 4-pin/8-pin power for CPU/motherboard
 2 x 6-pin/8-pin power cable for PCIe
2 x 6-pin/8-pin power cable for PCIe (additional)
 6 x SATA connectors (3+3)
 5 x 4-pin molex connectors (2+3)
 4 x 2-pin temperature probes
 1 x 3-pin fan control cable
1 x Internal USB extention cable

Gigabyte also do another verison of the same power supply - the Odin Pro 800W, but with out the monitoring software and costs slightly cheaper. You can check out the Gigabyte Odin GT 800W PSU full specifications ... HERE.
