Alphacool NexXxos XP Bold CPU Waterblock

"The cooling performance of the waterblock was very good. Those unique 53 nozzles seems to do the trick ... it's well worth considering."

Procedures

In our tests, we used an Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 processor at 3.2Ghz (8x400) with a CPU voltage of 1.4V. We also used an Asus P5E3 Deluxe motherboard with 2Gb of Crucial DDR3-1600 PC3-12800 ram. For our operating system we used Windows Vista, which has native support for DX10. To push the system to its limits, ran several DX10 games at high-res (1600x1200) with high detail (x4AA, x16AF), as well as using PCMark and Sandra CPU burn tests. Here's a list of the software and games used ...

 - Lavasys Everest
 - Sandra Pro XII CPU Burn Test
 - PC Mark 2005 (Full Loop Test)
 - 3D Mark 2006 (Full Loop Test)
 - Call of Juarez DX10
 - Crysis DX10

The ambient room temperature at the time of testing was around 24 degrees C. We gave our overclocked Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 processr a full 2 hours of CPU intensive looping test ... and believe me, you can feel the heat from the radiator! It will be surprising to see what sort of temperatures we'll be getting. We compared the Alphcool NexXxos XP Bold against the very good Swiftech Apogee GTX (waterblock), and the OCZ Vendetta CPU cooler, which uses copper heatpipes and a 92mm fan.
