Inno3D attacks the enthusiast gaming market with their 8800GT Accelero X1 graphics card ...

For those, especially in the US, who don't know who Inno3D are ... then read on. Inno3D specialises in multimedia products such as graphic/video cards and USB devices. Their head office is based in Hong Kong, and they have other offices around the world too. Inno3D are one of Nvidia's many partners, which mean all their graphic cards that they produce uses Nvidia's GPUs. Here's a little blurb takn frrom their website.

It's well know that Inno3D have been producing a lot of video cards, which are aimed at the budget to mid-range market. And for this reason most consumers have branded them as a budget card manufacturer, rather like ECS and ASRock a few years ago. But now times have changed, and for the past year Inno3D have been investing heavily in their R&D department ... producing high-end graphis cards and multimedia products, including motherboards. Entering this highly competitive enthusiast market has its risks, and Inno3D knows that. And in order to make any impact in this market ... it's best not to go it alone. Partnership is the key. So Inno3D decided to team up with Artic Cooling, a company that specialises in 3rd party and after market coolers for graphic cards. With this partnership established, Inno3D can now produce high-end graphic cards with these coolers, that can effectively cool any overclocked GPU and memory.

 

 

 

In this review, we'll be taking a look at the Inno3D 8800GT Accelero X1 graphics card. It's their latest addition to the iChill series of graphic cards, and features a very impressive cooler by Artic Cooling. The card utilises an overclocked Nvidia Geforce 8800GT GPU, which runs at 700Mhz, and features 512Mb of DDR3 ram which is also overclocked @ 2Ghz (2 x 1Ghz). With both GPU and memory overclocked, excess heat could be a major problem. And to combat this, Inno3D have included a pre-installed Accelero X1 Cooler from Artic Cooling. This cooler looks very impressive, and features 3 copper heatpipes which fan out to a large array of aluminum fins ... all of this is all housed in oddly looking plastic casing. The whole unit is cooled by quiet fan which spins at 500 - 2000 RPM.

 

 

One of the first thing you'll notice about the card are the the gold DVI and S-Video connectors. It's quite rare to see these nowadays, and it's an unexpected surprise. The pre-installed Accelero X1 cooler from Artic Cooling should be more than enough to cool this overclocked card, and it definitely makes this card very appealing. We're expecting some good performance from the Inno3D 8800GT Accelero X1, and I don't expect anything less, specially from an overclocked Geforce G92 GPU.

 

          

 

For our tests, we'll be benchmarking the Inno3D 8800GT Accelero X1 with several GPU intensive DX10 games ... with both 4xAA and 16xAF options enabled, as well as your usual 3D Mark 2005 and 2006 tests. Our test rig includes an Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 @ default 2.4Ghz, Gigabyte GA-P35 DS4 motherboard, Crucial Ballistix Tracer DDR2-800 4Gb Kit, PC Power & Cooling Turbo Cool 860W PSU and a 19" Dell Ultrascan P990 monitor. All-in-all, it's a decently spec'd system for DX10 gaming.

OK, lets not waste any more time and see how well the Inno3D 8800GT Accelero X1 will perform against similar cards on the market.
