Introduction

Antec NeoPower 650W Power Supply.

INTRODUCTION

One of the most underrated areas of focus, on a new computer system build, is the power supply. Too often, I have witnessed users purchasing the best of the best in other areas, only to wonder why they suffer from system instability with a generic power supply.  A brand name power supply should be among the first components to be considered, not the last. Antec has produced power supplies synonymous with quality for some time now.

Today we have the pleasure of taking a look at one of their midrange units the NeoPower 650 Watt PSU. Your probably not going to look at this particular power supply if you’re planning a Quad SLI monster, but this PSU will be a good fit for users not looking to build the before mentioned quad SLI monster. Antec uses three +12V lines rated at 19A each and also incorporate active PFC.  Active PFC helps to balance out power fluctuations, and should be a standard component feature of any current PSU.
