Lian-Li PC-60F Aluminum Chassis

"Lian-Li release their PC-60F Aluminum Chassis (Black). It's aimed at the mainstream users and should be popular among enthusiasts too. Users of the original PC-60 should recognise its shape and design ... it's very similar but now has extra cooling."

Introduction

The brand "LIAN-LI" is famously known for manufacturing high quality computer chassis and cases. Based in Taiwan, their products have always been assocciated with quality, high-end and enthusiast. And as far as I can remember, they were also known to many, as the "cream of the crop" when it comes to computer chassis. I remember my very first Lian-Li chassis ... it was the original PC60 chassis. It was expensive at the time, but the quality and craftmanship were exceptional.

To learn more about Lian-Li, here's a little blurb taken from their Website.

"Lian Li Industrial Co., LTD was founded in 1983. We are the one of the largest and most reputable manufacturer of aluminum PC case in Taiwan . With over twenty years of experience in the computer products field, our dedicated team of engineers, production specialists and adminstrative staff provide the finest quality accessories available on the market.

In 1993, Lian-Li Introduced the new lines of computer hardware, including bracket( for case & interfaces), Mobile rack(for H.D.D.), mounting kit(for FDD & HDD), aluminum PC cases, IPC, external cases, server cases and more. We also provide OEM & ODM services, you are assured of designs that will meet your exact specifications, innovative ideas in manufacturing that will give your products an essential market edge."

Lian-Li's reputation comes from its excellent build quality and craftmanship. Lian-Li's Quality Control (QC) is very stringent, so when each Lian-Li chassis comes out of its production line ... it is seriously flawless. This is all great ... but with quality comes price. And this is where Lian-Li fails when it comes to attracting the average user or gamer.

I asked some ordinary users what they though of Lian-Li chassis ... many said they look a little boring, but the quality is really excellent. And one thing always came up ... PRICE. No matter how you look at it ... prices on Lian-Li's chassis aren't very attractive at all. This can seriously narrow their customer base, thus attracting only the high-end or enthusiast users. Maybe, Lian-Li have decided only to cater for this market, who knows ... but in doing so, their done a pretty good job so far.

In this review we'll be taking a look at the Lian-Li PC-60F. It's Lian-Li's new and revamped version of the original PC-60 which famously took the world by storm during early 2000. What makes the PC-60F different from the original PC-60 are the extra cooling features and the support for watercooling. There are two models ... PC-60F and PC-60FW. The "FW" contains a windowed side panel for all you show-offs :P

Lian-Li wanted a very clean, smooth and simplistic look to the chassis. Even the box says "Minimal Style" which is quiote odd. There are no cabon-fibre trimmings ... phew! (which can make the chassis look cheap) and there aren't any huge fans on the side panel or the top of the chassis. This it makes the chassis very smooth and clean looking. The spare 5.25" bays blanked using solid Aluminum panels, so no meshed grills ... only where the fan is located near the bottom. It's the kind of chassis that's more suited for the mainstream to high-end user, that really likes a classy looking chassis ... smooth, clean and simplistic. The kind of chassis that can be placed in a living room without standing out like a sore thumb.

The Lian-Li PC60-F has the word "quality" written all over it. Just take a look at the side panels and the edges of the chassis. Rolled back Aluminum edges to prevent accidents ... ie cut fingers. The brushed Aluminum finish, makes the chassis really smooth and has a real classy finish. It is truely a work of art ... offering excellent craftmanship and build quality.

OK, let's not waste any more time and take a closer look at the Lian-Li PC-60F chassis ...
