"Extreme hardcore enthusiast won't compromise on their power supplies. A high quality and powerful PSU is essential to having a stable and reliable system. OCZ's 1000W EliteXStream PSU is 80 Plus certified and features a powerful single +12V rail at 80A!"
I have to say, OCZ have produced a very good power supply that's really designed for the enthusiasts. With a total output of 1000W, and featuring a powerful single +12V rail @ 80A ... it's more than enough to satisfy the power requirements of any user from mainstream to the hardcore extreme enthusiast. What's more the PSU is also certified 80 Plus and SLI-Ready, giving users added benefits. The overall build quality is very good, and the use of high quality components including solid capacitors gives this PSU stability and longevity. OCZ is so confident with this product that it is bold enough to include an exceptional 5 years warranty.
In our tests, the OCZ 1000W EliteXStream PSU proved to be very stable and reliable. During heavy loads, the voltage readings for +3.3V, +5V and +12V were extremely stable with very little flucuations. What's more, it turns out that the total power output during load was lower than we were expecting, which proves that the PSU is very enegry efficient ... only drawing what's needed.
Another impressive result was during our 240W "Peltier Test". The Peltier TEC module can draw upto a massive 240W @ 25A depending on the conditions. After several minutes during the test, condensation started to form tiny water droplets on the copper coldplate. It's the first time we've this happen during our PSU test ... proving that the Peltier is really drawing a lot of juice from the PSU. All-in-all, it was very stable and very energy efficient with no problems at all. Excellent.

No cable management system here ... so you will get a lot of redundant used cables. But that's not a problem for all you enthusiasts ... as long as the PSU is reliable and stable. As for connectivity goes, the OCZ 1000W EliteXStream PSU has plenty ... these include 8xSATA, 8xMolex 4-pin, 4xPCIe (6+2-pin) and the usual 24-pin and 8-pin ATX power connectors. The 120mm fan is fairly quiet and does an adequate job of cooling the entire PSU, though I would have prefered a larger fan.

With such a powerful PSU, the price of the OCZ 1000W EliteXStream isn't your everyday purchase. Costing around £140 ($270), it may sound a lot but really, it isn't all that bad ... considering that similar PSUs in its class cost a lot more. To be honest, it's one of the most attractively price 1000W power supply available on the market. If you're an enthusiast, the OCZ 1000W EliteXStream PSU is definitely worth considering.
Final words: OCZ have produced a very good PSU with excellent build quailty and stability. Its powerful single +12V rail @ 80A, capable of upto 1000W of power will definitely draw the crowds. It's certified 80 Plus and SLI-Ready, with an impressive 5 years warranty ... what more do you want?
