Introduction

Sales of complete and ready-built systems are on the rise. And one of the main reasons include the hassle-free warranty that many specialist companies provide. Why buy separate components and build it yourself, when you can have an expert technician do it for you ... tested, burned-in, pre-overclock and ready to go. Yes, it is fun to build your own system, but when things go wrong ... it's the RMA process that's really a pain in the backside. Having said that, having a custom built system with your own choice of components is what makes your system special ... Luckily, YoYoTech's PC configurator allows you to do just that. You can select components of your choice and customise it your tastes.

For those who don't know about YoYoTech ... Well, they're a privately owned computer stored based in London. They were established in 2001, and has been trading under the name Antech Direct Limited. They specialise in selling computer hardware from complete systems to PC components, for both mainstrteam users and enthusiasts. We recently visited their store and conducted a brief interview with Kul Singh, one of the main guys at YoYoTech.

Last month we reviewed YoYoTech's Intel Nighthawk XT gaming system. It was a very nicely built system with lots of great components. The performance from the overclocked Q9300 processor and Radeon HD 4870, were very good ... easily beating our own test system. What's more, we were very impressed with its build quality and tidiness.

In this review, we'll be taking a look at YoYoTech's next-in-line gaming system ... the Intel Warbird XT. It's very much the same in appearance ... not surprising as it uses the same Antec Twelve Hundred Chassis. It's based on Intel's Core 2 Quad Q9550 processor, with a default speed of 2.83Ghz. What makes this system special is that the technicians have overclocked the CPU to 3.9Ghz ... that's an extra overclocked speed of more than 1Ghz !! This is all cooled by a very impressive OCZ Vendetta 2 CPU cooler.

The Warbird system features an Asus P5Q-PRO motherboard, 4Gb of OCZ Reaper DDR2 PC2-8500 ram, Coolermster Real Power M700W PSU, Samsung 1Tb SATA HDD, Samsung DVD+/-R rom,  and finally the main attraction ... Sapphire's Radeon HD 4870x2 (2Gb GDDR5) graphics card.

The YoYoTech Warbird gaming system sounds very impressive ... and we can't wait to see what it can do. I'm expecting it to outperform everything we've got in our labs. Mind you, our test system is only based on a Q6600 and a Radeon HD3870.

What I think will really appeal to the consumers, is the price, the build quality and  the great service that YoYoTech offers. It's not a DELL or HP, and it's no price match .... but for the gaming enthusiast, the YoYoTech Wardbird is a customisable and configurable system worth considering.

We'll be comparing the YoYoTech Intel Warbird XT Gaming System with YoYoTech's previous Nighhawk XT Gaming rig AND our own test rig ... which is comprised of a Gigabyte GA-EP45 DS5 motherboard using our trusted old Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 @ default 2.4Ghz, Kingston HyperX DDR2 PC2-9200 2Gb Kit, a Radeon HD3870 512MB DDR4, PC Power & Cooling Turbo Cool 860W PSU, running Windows Vista with native DX10.

Ok, let's not waste any more time and take a closer look at YoYoTech's Intel Warbird XT Gaming System.
