"Budget manufacturer Tsunami looks to target the HTPC market with their MJR2 Slim HTPC Chassis. We give it blast to find out what's it like."
Yes, you guys have probably heard of the manufacturer ... Tsunami. They've been around for some time ... since the early days of 1994. They manufactuer and distribute a small range of products including PC loud speakers, power supplies, computers chassis, USB enclosures. Aimed at the budget market and value segment, Tsunmai have managed to penerate key markets around the world, especially in the UK. I'm sure in the past, you've heard of Tsunami chassis, PSUs and PC speakers ... and you'll usually find their products in most computer fairs, local PC shops and budget retailers. What makes Tsunami so appealing is its price ... it's very cheap, and most of their product does the job to a satisfactory level. For those who haven't heard of Tsunami, here's a little blurb taken from their website ...
"Tsunami was founded in 1994 with one simple vision: Make technology delightful, enjoyable, and life- inspired. We have established manufacturing plants in emerging markets e.g. China and Brazil. Along the years, Tsunami has successfully developed itself as a main player in supplying innovative and high quality products globally. In 2007, based on it’s extensive experience, Tsunami Group has decided to extend their arms into the UK market. Tsunami is seeking to be unique and will provide OEM/ODM, IPO sourcing consultancy service for customers with visions. Tsunami is also proudly to be Intel © exclusive R&D design partner. "

The HTPC market have always been a very niche market, but it seems that a lot of consumers are getting more and more interested. I, myself have been following its trends, and I've decided it would be nice to have a mini HTPC system in my living room. I was looking for the right type of motherboard and chassis that can cater for a half-decent HTPC system.
There are two routes you can take. Go for an AMD or Intel based system, but you'll also need to consider your budget. For me, I don't need a high-end HTPC system ... I'll only need it for movies, music and some web surfing. So a budget HTPC system is ideal for me ... and this is where Tsunami comes in. Before I go any further ... if you're after a high quality, high-end, slim HTPC chassis, then stop. The Tsunami MJR2 Slim HTPC chassis is NOT for you. It's really aimed at the lower-end/budget sector of the HTPC market.

In this review, we'll be taking a look at the Tsunami MJR2 Slim HTPC chassis. According to Tsunami, the chassis is "Intel Approved" and comes with a host of I/O connectors on the front of the chassis. The chassis is slim and has a small footprint ... it's also designed to be fitted with a slim DVD/RW or BluRay rom drive.
MJR2 HTPC chassis includes a 300W power supply, which is suitable for most micro-ATX motherboards and should be powerful enough to meet the power requirements of budget HTPC users.

We'll be testing this chassis by building our very own slim HTPC system featuring an all-in-one ASRock G43 motherboard with an Intel Core 2 Duo processor. The test system will also include 2Gb of Kingston DDR2 ram, Maxtor 250Gb SATA HDD and Samsung slim DVD/RW rom drive
Let's take a closer look at the specifications of the Tsunami MJR2 Slim HTPC chassis ...
