Installation and Package

Package and Contents

The package comes with a lot of equipment especially for video output, it has S-video to HD cable, S-video to S-video cable, S-video to composite cable and composite cable extender.
As well as the video cables there are power splitters and converters to give the RX1900GT that extra power, 2 x DVI to VGA adaptors and finally some games and applications.

Installation

The RX1900GT has a slim cooling unit which has many slim fins to allow heat dissipation. The cooling unit has a polished copper block in the centre which is for the GPU core which in turn is wrapped and surrounded by aluminium casing. The RAM is also cooled by the unit too and the fan is controlled to counteract temperature.

The RX1900GT fitted on to the DFI LAN Party DR-Expert easily and it left some breathing space for the south chipset, but it did concern me whether heat will gather at the area above the chipset where the heat is ejected from the VGA card cooler.

Driver installation was also very straight forward and in our tests we used ATI Catalyst 6.6. However, if you install another ATI GPU based graphics card it may not work 100%, which means you will need to un-install the drivers and re-install it again.
