Introduction

Last week we reviewed the In-Win Commander 1200W power supply. We thought it was good PSU that offered good quality, decent performance and excellent stability. We move on to take a look at some of In-Win's other products, which includes chassis and USB enclosures. You can check out their full product range at their website here ... http://www.inwin-style.com/. For those who haven't heard of In-Win, here's a little blurb taken from In-Win's website ...

"IN-WIN Development Inc., an ISO 9001 manufacturer of professional computer chassis, power supplies and digital storage devices, is the leading provider of enclosure solutions to system integrators worldwide. Founded in 1986, IN-WIN provides high quality chassis that conform to all safety regulations, as well as unsurpassed customer service."

In this day and age, especially in 2009 ... manufacturers will need to look at how to survive this very harsh and competitive market. Profit margins for any computer related produts have traditionally been very low ... it's the volume that counts. Selling to distributors and resellers  have always been the main objective. The more you shift, the more you'll make.

Believe or not, there's more money in PC accessories and aftermarket products than PC components. That's why we see a lot of these products being sold in most computer retailers from big names to small online shops.

In this review, we'll be taking a quick look at the In-Win 'NA USB enclosure. It supports all 3.5" hard drives upto a capacity of 1 Terabyte, and features external eSATA and USB connectors. It's powered by a separate 12V power supply.

When I initially looked at the 'NA USB enclosure, I first thought ... what a strange name for a product. Then I realise what In-Win was trying to do. The name of the product is inspired by Chinese calligraphy, NA. The device removes itself from the traditional, boring and dull look of most USB enclosures. The new artistic design has a touch of Chinese culture. It's ART!

The device features a patented anti vibration rubber design, and a 6mm silent fan with an automatic thermostat switch. What's more, to complete the artistic theme, the device also features a unique cover that hides the exposed wires. The package comes with an odd looking porcelain dish, which is loosely place on top of the device, to give it that classic ornamtental look.

The design is certainly very nice, and it does look very unique ... but can the In-Win 'NA USB enclosure appeal to the average consumer? Later on, I will show you what the real purpose of porcelain dish is really for ;)

Let's take a closer look ...
