Introduction

Asus introduces the P5W DH Deluxe for the enthusiasts and performance users.

INTRODUCTION

After the impressive M32N-SLI from Asus, I was really looking forward to their P5W DH Deluxe. It's one of Asus's high-end motherboard designed for Intel Core 2 (Conroe) processors and contains new innovative features such as Asus's "Digital Home" with built-in WiFi.

There shouldn't be any need for me to introduce you to Asus, you should all know by now that Asus is one the world's largest producer of motherboards and PC related products. Their motherboards are probably the number one choice among enthusiasts and budget users alike, and you will find that the quality, stability, build and performance of most Asus motherboards are second to none. Honestly, they are really that good. However, there is a downside to all of this, and that is ... the price. What you will find, is that in general, most Asus motherboards are more expensive than the rest of the competition. Well, I guess at the end of the day ... you get what you pay for.

Working closely with Intel, the heart of the P5W DH Deluxe is based around the newer version of Intel's i975X chipset (older i975X motherboards are not compatible with the Conroe processors). It also contains the ICH7 southbridge which controls the sub-systems like I/O, PCI and SATA. It offers support for 1066/800 FSB, DDR2 800/667/533, ATi Crossfire compatibility and supports all the latest Intel processors including Core 2 Duo and Core 2 Extreme.

The Asus P5W DH Deluxe also features the innovative "Digital Home" with bult-in WiFi. So what is "Digital Home" ... Here's Asus's own explaination.

"P5W DH Deluxe is specially designed for Gamers, Personal Workstation, SoHo, high-end and multi-tasking PC users. The rise of digital home is just like a tsunami that is poinsed to take over the PC industry. To enjoy the digitalized convinience, you need the ASUS Digital Home series motherboard, a system that is designed solely for this purpose. ASUS Digital Home series motherbaord enables users to control the computer at a distance away, setup wireless network to enjoy wireless Skype phone, charge mobile devices even when the PC is turned off, and backup the database automatically. Enjoy the comfort of digital home you deserve."

And there you have it ... Asus's "Digital Home" in a nutshell. The Asus P5W DH Deluxe is feature rich and enthusiasts will enjoy all the added benefits that it has to offer.

It will be interesting to see how well the P5W DH will perform against the Intel D975XBX motherboard. OK, let's not waste any more time and see what in store for us ...
