CPU3D Exclusive: Overclocking Q6600 - G0 stepping to 1900FSB
CPU3D Exclusive: Overclocking Q6600 - G0 Stepping to 1900FSB We just received our Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 processor from our sponsors SpecialTech. And yes ... I'm glad to say it is the much talked about G0 stepping. We'll be using this special processor in our HydroBox (TM) III Ultimate project. After ripping the the processor out of the box ... I just couldn't resist. I had to overclock it to see what it could do ... We used an Asus motherboard with our recently reviewed Crucial Ballistix DDR3-1600 PC3-12800 2Gb Kit. First, I had to lower the CPU multiplier to 7 and then increase the CPU frequency from 266Mhz to 475Mhz. CPU voltage was increased to 1.45v, while the DDR3 voltage was increased to 2.0v. Yes, I know it's very high but don't you just love the unbelieveably high FSB of 1900Mhz!!
