MSI adopts a new Circup-Pipe silent chipset cooler to their P35 Platinum motherboard
INTRODUCTION Thanks to MSI and the CPU3D review team, we'll be taking a look at the MSI P35 Platinum motherboard. This motherboard utilises the Intel P35 chipset and offers support for 1333FSB, Quad core processors and DDR2-800 ram. It features a new silent chipset cooler called Circu-Pipe which is based on heatpipe technology and looks fantastic. The MSI's Platinum series of motherboards are designed and aimed at the mainstream to high-end market. These motherboards usually contain a lot extra features that include extra PCIe slots for SLI, better chipset cooling and better quality components.
Intel's P35 chipset is now mainstream and MSI have released their Platinum edition of the P35 motherboard. The P35 Platinum uses DDR2 ram, which I still believe is still OK in terms of price/performance. It will be the choice of most users as DDR3 ram is still very expensive. Next week will be taking a look at MSI's P35 Diamond motherboard - the DDR3 version of the P35 Platinum. It will be interesting to see what difference DDR3 ram can make.
I have a feeling that the MSI P35 Platinum could surprise us in both the performance and price department. It certainly has a lot to offer ... great features, lots of extras including gigabit ethernet LAN, 2 eSATA connectors, firewire, optical SPDIF and of course the Circu-Pipe silent chipset cooler.
We'll be using our Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 processor to test this motherboard, along with 2Gb of OCZ DDR2 PC2-8500 SLI modules. OK, let's not waste any more time and see what the MSI P35 Platinum has to offer ...
