CPU3D Exclusive: Overclocking Q6600 - G0 Stepping to 1900FSB We just received our Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 processor from our sponsors SpecialTech. And yes ... I'm glad to say it is the much talked about G0 stepping. We'll be using this special processor in our HydroBox (TM) III Ultimate project. After ripping the the processor out of the box ... I just couldn't resist. I had to overclock it to see what it could do ...
We used an Asus motherboard with our recently reviewed Crucial Ballistix DDR3-1600 PC3-12800 2Gb Kit. First, I had to lower the CPU multiplier to 7 and then increase the CPU frequency from 266Mhz to 475Mhz. CPU voltage was increased to 1.45v, while the DDR3 voltage was increased to 2.0v. Yes, I know it's very high but don't you just love the unbelieveably high FSB of 1900Mhz!!

CPUZ Information
Just look at that FSB of 1900Mhz. CPU frequency is increased to 475Mhz, while the multiplier lowered to 7.
This is the best bit. Check out the speed of our overclocked Ballistix DDR3 ram. At 950Mhz !!! ... it's only 50Mhz away from much talked about 1Ghz DDR3 ram from Corsair. Remember, these Crucial Ballistix DDR3 ram was originally rated at DDR3-1600 (800Mhz), so overclocking it to 950Mhz is excellent ... that's DDR3-1900 spec !!

Here's our overclocked PCMark 05 score ...
What a processor ... I just love it. It's one of the best overclocking CPUs we've come across. Remember, the results I managed to get was all done on air-cooling !! ... Just image what I can achieve with watercooling. The thought of it just makes me want to dribbbe :P Once again, we would like to thank our sponsors SpecialTech for providing us with such an amazing processor ... HydroBox (TM) III Ultimate ... here we come !!
