CPU3D Exclusive: Gigabyte Spring Break Plug-Fest 2008

"This year Gigabyte have gone out of their way, to really promote their up-and-coming motherboards based on Intel's lastest P45 chipset. We were invited to attend their exclusive, invitation-only event at their head quarters in Taipei, Taiwan."

P45 Testing

We are then allowed to perform benchmarks, test, tweak and overclock as we like ... with no limitation. In fact, Gigabyte allow us to bring our own equipment if we wanted for testing. So I took the opportunity to call a good friend of mine from Coolermaster in Taiwan ... and asked him to drop a power supply and the recently released Hyper Z600 passive CPU Cooler to me. I wanted to see if the Coolermaster Hyper Z600 CPU cooler would fit the Gigabyte GA-EP45 DS4 and DS5 motherboards. Well, I'm glad to say it did.

In fact, Gigabyte was so impressed with what I used to test the motherboard ... they made sure the other press took photos of my test rig :)

I am glad to say the Coolermaster passed the test it. It fits the board

For our overclocking tests, we used a Coolermaster Z600 with one 120mm fan

We also used a Coolermaster 650W PSU to power up the test rig

We were given a worksheet with loads of benchmarks which had to be executed. We compared the results with all the other press and media representitives. Benchmark tests include the usual Futuremark suite, a range of CPU tests and overclocking tests.
