Sunbeamtech Core-Contact Freezer CPU Cooler

INTRODUCTION

Today we are looking at a cooler from Sunbeamtech called the Core-Contact Freezer. Sunbeamtech and their subdivision company, Tuniq, are known for producing quality coolers. The cooler is very large, but also unusually light for its size.

The Core-Contact Freezer incorporates a new and innovative cooler trend, by featuring heatpipes that directly contact the CPU surface, rather than soldered to a secondary plate that contacts the CPU. They accomplish this by grinding down the heatpipes flat, and then using that as the functional CPU base. As you can see in this picture, the four 8mm heatpipes come in direct contact with the top surface of the CPU.

In theory removing the extra layer should facilitate more efficient thermal heat transfer away from the CPU. So let's dig in and find out.....
