Contrary to what's been said, sales of DDR2 ram is still very strong, and it will remain so for at least the next 12 months. That's not to say that DDR3 hasn't gained any ground. In fact, since its less than successful launch

2 years ago, we have seen a lot of enthusiasts gradually shifting over to DDR3. DDR3 does have its advantages, but DDR2 is still very popular with users of both mainstream and some enthusiasts. And one of the reasons for this is due to the lower memory latency, the price and the availability that DDR2 has to offer.

There are still a huge market for DDR2 memory, and manufacturers are forever producing higher speed DDR2 to satisfy the demands of both the mainstream user and enthusiasts. However, for many enthusiasts, the limiting factor with DDR2 ram is the speed. Right now the highest speed available for DDR2 is 1200Mhz, and that's an unofficial specification of JEDEC, the governing body for memory standards.

We expect these modules to perform extremely well, especially in the overclocking department. We'll be testing these modules on our test rig, which includes an Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 @ default 2.4Ghz, Asus Maximus II Formula (P45) motherboard, a Radeon HD3870 graphics card, PC Power & Cooling Turbo Cool 860W PSU and a 24" Samsung SyncMAster 245B LCD monitor.

Anyway, enough talk ... let's take a closer look at the specifications ...
